DESCRIPTION:Allison Spence a Certified Studio 180 Instructor will be joining us today to teach us how to use the Deb Tucker\, Studio 180  Four Patch Square Up ruler\, fabric kits will be provided and we will put the blocks together to donate a quilt to our charity  “Quilts for Everyday Heroes” this is the link to their website: https://www.quilts4everydayheroes.com/ \nSaturday\, September 16 from 10 – 4 \n$20 fee to pay Allison for instruction and long arming the finished quilt for charity Rulers will be available to purchase at class. \n \nFour Patches\, basic units that seem so simple to make. Just stitch 4 squares together\, either individually or with strip piecing and you’re good to go. But anyone who has attempted these units knows that they are notoriously difficult to make perfectly. Either the unit size isn’t quite right\, the edges just don’t quite line up\, or they’re just not quite square. Ugh. Even experienced stitchers encounter these problems. \nThe Four Patch Square Up© Tool is the solution. Like all the Studio 180 Design rulers and processes\, this tool and technique will have you build your units slightly oversized and then quickly trim them to perfect shapes. The Four Patch Square Up© Tool is designed to work with units that finish to whole or half inch increments\, from ½” finished up to 6” finished unit sizes. The tool’s perfectly engineered lines are designed to quickly locate and align with the unit center and the sewn seams\, allowing for easy trimming on all four sides. The accuracy is amazing!

DESCRIPTION:Is it time to clean out your sewing room? do you have fabric piling up? Patterns and books you know you’ll never use? Rulers\, tools and notions you have no idea why you bought? Too many Sewing Machines? This event is for you\, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” join us for a quilters swap meet to sell\, trade or buy quilting supplies. \nThe swap meet will run from 1 – 4 on Sunday August 27 at Bow Bench Retreat  if you want to sell please register below and pay the $20 fee proceeds from this fee will be put towards charity quilts. If you don’t have items to sell and just want to shop or browse there is no fee. \nThis is an outdoor event\, weather permitting\,  park on our grassy parking lot\, open your trunk\, hatch or tailgate and start selling\,  don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and even a table or picnic blanket to better display your stuff. You will be responsible for your own sales and collecting money etc. any left over items must be taken home with you at the end of the meet. \nIf you have a sewing machine to sell it can be set up inside the shop so it can be plugged in and tested out. \nSnacks and refreshments provided. \n

SUMMARY:"Slab" Quilts with Cheryl Arkison - Quilts for Everyday Heroes
DESCRIPTION:This is a focused workshop on the Slab Technique from Sunday Morning Quilts\, co-authored with Amanda Jean Nyberg. Slabs are what refer to as the “fabric” made from joining scraps together. It is an improvisational piecing technique that results in unique slabs of fabric that can be used in many ways. The class includes scrap sorting discussions and play as well as detailed instructions on making a slab. Students will then work to make additional slabs\, practicing the technique. \nDuring this class we will be making quilt blocks to donate to an organization called Quilts for Everyday Heroes   https://www.quilts4everydayheroes.com/ \nQuilts for Everyday Heroes is an organization that appreciates and recognizes first responders for putting themselves into emotionally challenging and dangerous situations daily.  We hope  to wrap those first responders who are battling with PTSD and depression in a handmade quilt to let them know that we are aware of the struggle that comes from their determination to make our world a safe place. \nThe “Slab” technique by Cheryl Arkison is a great block for charity quilts\, so this is a great opportunity to learn a new technique\, spend the day sewing with friends\, use up some scraps while you support a amazing cause!! Please feel free to continue to make blocks at home to donate.  Quilts 4 Everyday Heros would also appreciate fabric for backing and people to longarm finished tops.
